Broom– With Pentacle
Brooms are used on altars as a purifying and protective tool to cleanse an area before doing magical work. They are also known as besoms or witches brooms, and can be hung over an altar with a cord.
Brooms are considered powerful symbols of cleanliness and purification. They can also be used to guard a home by placing them across the threshold, under the bed, on doors or windows, for sweeping away negative energy, for spells or ritual. Broomsticks also have symbolic significance in other ways; In weddings and handfastings, couples would “jump the broom” at the end of their ceremony. The broomstick represents the balance between masculine and feminine energies. In the past, women would prop a broom outside their door or up a chimney to let people know they were away. Some witches hang an upside-down broom in their house for good luck.
